This programme features some of the larger earth-moving equipment
working on major projects in Britain. It includes excavators up to
85 tonnes; crawler tractors up to D9; articulated dump trucks from
Bell, Caterpillar and Volvo; rigid dump trucks from Euclid; scrapers,
including the Cat 637G; loaders, compactors and graders.
The programme has been made with the full co-operation of CA Blackwell
(Contracts) Ltd whose contracts at Heathrow Airport Terminal 5, the
re-development of the Corby iron ore extraction site and the White
Horse chalk quarry require a wide range of machines for a variety
of tasks. The programme describes why the company uses particular
machines and shows the equipment at work in this exciting and specialised
world of large-scale earthmoving.
