The first of a two-part series, this superb compilation of archive film selected by Brian Bell covers the period from 1940 to 1970.
Most of the well-known manufacturers, as well as some less familiar names, are represented in original footage from the period. A broad range of equipment has been selected to demonstrate how the implements for ploughing, cultivating, drilling, spraying and harvesting changed over the period.
The programme is fully scripted by Brian Bell and narrated by broadcaster Chris Opperman.

Ransomes Catchpole Powerbeet   Dating from the late 1960s, the Ransomes Catchpole Powerbeet sugar beet harvester was built around a Ford 4000 or M-F 165 tractor.
The 13ft 9 ins cutter-bar on the Claas Junior worked like a binder. The crop was then conveyed through ninety degrees for threshing and separation.
