The second of a two-part series, this superb compilation of archive film selected by Brian Bell covers the period from 1970 to 1995.
It shows the continuing advance in mechanisation from the 1970s, in archive film from most of the well-known manufacturers, illustrating the influence of new technology on equipment for ploughing, cultivating, drilling, spraying and harvesting. Original footage from the period shows the emergence of ever more powerful machinery with electronic controls, and footage from the 1995 Power in Action demonstration at Otley completes the story.
The programme is fully scripted by Brian Bell and narrated by broadcaster Chris Opperman.
