The extracts from archive film in this video 'Classic Tractors' focus mainly on the development of tractors from 1945 to the present day. Rare footage is included of the 1917 Fordson Standard, the first mass-produced tractor in America. Brian Bell’s choice of films features many early tractors including International, Ferguson, Nuffield and David Brown. The range continues up to the computer-controlled cabs of the 1990s.
The video includes manufacturers’ promotional films and covers both popular and rare models, engaged in a variety of field operations.
The programme is fully scripted by Brian Bell and narrated by broadcaster Chris Opperman.
