Diana Zeuner is the publisher and editor of Heavy Horse World Magazine,
the only publication in the UK devoted solely to heavy horses, which
has now been published for 16 years.
Her interest in heavy horses began with their introduction to the
Weald & Downland Open Air Museum, Singleton, Chichester, West
Sussex, where her late husband, Chris Zeuner was the Museum Director.
As England's leading museum of historic buildings, it has a
strong link with rural life: working horses and other farm livestock
are used to help interpret the traditional buildings and the lives
of ordinary people in former times. Four working Shires are kept
at the Museum, where they undertake a wide range of traditional tasks.
Chris developed a special interest in heavy horses, culminating in
his participation in the French relay race La Route du Poisson with
the British team in 1999. After his sudden and untimely death in
2001, Diana took over the management of the heavy horse stables at
the Museum on a part-time basis.
In 1998 she edited together more than 20 contributions to The
Working Horse Manual, designed as a beginners' guide to working horses
and horsemanship. Diana is also editor of the magazine for the Association
of Independent Museums and the magazine for the Weald & Downland
Open Air Museum.
