George French

George French was born in the heart of East Devon and grew up in the 1960s surrounded by the tractors and farm machinery of his neighbouring agricultural contractor and local farmers.

In 1972 George entered an apprenticeship in agricultural engineering at Medland Sanders and Twose who to this day still have a Massey Ferguson Franchise. After fifteen years working on a range of agricultural machinery he joined a local agricultural contractor where he repaired and drove tractors, combines and heavy goods vehicles.

Leaving the repair side of agricultural engineering, George next spent fifteen years with Vapormatic of Exeter, firstly in quality control and latterly covering the South West of England as a sales representative, gaining experience of John Deere products. More recently he has been selling agricultural tractors and machinery for the New Holland dealership Buglers of Beaminster.

George is often to be seen at road runs and rallies exercising tractors from his own collection of fifteen classics from the 1950s, 60s and 70s. ‘Although I have had experience of a wide range of tractors and machinery,’ he says, ‘Massey Ferguson still remains my favourite make.’
