David Woodward

David and Shirley

David Woodward was born in Beccles, Suffolk and attended the Sir John Leman School. He fed the school hens and worked as a 'Backus Boy' at a local farm during wartime. After National Service in The Royal Navy, David studied at Writtle Agricultural College and is a graduate of the Open University.

As a regular contributor to local radio, David has worked hard to promote awareness and pride in Suffolk's traditions, culture and dialect. He is now a local representative for the National Centre for English Cultural Tradition based at the University of Sheffield.

David has been married to Shirley for over forty years; they have one son.
