Now, through a compelling illustrated autobiography, readers are being given a peek into his life.
The Dales Vet is Mr Turner's third book having published Hill Farmer in 2001 and The Border Collie on 2013.
He describes his latest offering as "the joy of being a veterinary surgeon in Teesdale".

At times it was emotionally harrowing, especially when I had to put pets to sleep, but I always knew I was doing what was best for them, and looking back, there’s nothing I’d rather have done for a career. I still wonder how I’ve crammed so many wonderful experiences into one life."

Travelling around the Durham Dales throughout the seasons in the course of his work has culminated in a unique photographic record of this wild part of Northern England, as well as a wealth of material for features, and several books. His latest, The Dales Vet – A Working Life in Pictures, has been 30 years in the making, and is a wonderful celebration of a life well spent, an enchanting and moving record that is entertaining, humorous, poignant, and informative in equal measure.
Many of Neville’s stories and his boundless generosity, bring a lump to the throat. His concern for not only his patients, but also their oft-distraught owners, further reveals that to this sensitive soul there was far more to being a vet.
Dales Vet, is captivating. It is so much more than the life of a vet and embraces the deep spirit of the community with its highs and lows, carnivals, village fetes and livestock shows.
