Details
For ITV Anglia, Paul Heiney explores twelve of the east of England’s loveliest rivers – by canoe. He begins by locating the river’s source, usually a pond or a muddy ditch. Then, as stream develops into river, he launches his canoe and starts his journey.
Moving silently downstream, the canoe gives Paul a unique perspective on river life, taking him to parts inaccessible on foot which offer rare insights into the river’s history and wildlife. From time to time he stops to talk to people for whom the river plays an important part in their lives.
This DVD combines two complete series of programmes. Together they provide a fascinating record of the eastern region’s most beautiful, often surprising and sometimes overlooked natural features – its Secret Rivers.
